| I have been told by Colin Tretheway that Weblo is taking into consideration ideas put forth by Weblo members. One thing that he mentioned, without comitting to anything, was the idea of doing away with yearly renewals of domains. He did NOT say they are doing away with it. But they ave made note of it, and are kicking it around.
It only maes sense for them to at least suspend the yearly renewal, at least for the first couple of years, until domains can make some decent consistent money.
What is your opinion? Should domains in Weblo truly reflect the real world with renewals, or should there be a startup grace?

| I say ditch the renewal, or if they are going to keep it put the expiration date under the registration date. Makes buying them dangerious, don't no if it has 1 month or 25 left. | |

| they should definitley get rid of renewals. i think people will develop a lot more domains if they know they wont lose them to expiration. | |

| I don't mind the renewal. Developed and promoted domains shouldn't have much trouble recouping their registration and renewal costs. The renewal serves me as a reminder that, if my domain's earnings don't justify it's renewal, it's either time to sell or time to let it die naturally - shit or get off the pot. | |

| i agree with webloid tho! when its time to renew and your domain has made no money well then you just let it die or sell it! its a good way to know what to keep or not! | |

| They took away our ad revenue, they should at least give us this so we can be sole owners for life just like the rest. I don't think any of us have a problem if they shave a few percent from earnings from each once a month. Sort of like union dues.
Many domains are premature with the low traffic but could be real gold when there's millions of members.

| I am in agreement regarding domains initially. They should come with an initial 3 year registration. But for the sake of argument, wouldn't it be cool to be able to snag great domains thet expire? (Just as in the real world.) It is that element of intrigue and decisions that make domaining fun in real life. Maybe this would be positive in Weblo. It would keep some of the 'gaming' aspect in Weblo. | |
