| On March 1st I spent about an hour rating about 70 assets of one Weblonian. Just to see what would happen. To my surprise nothing has happened to any of the scores as of yet. Cat had used this member's pages as an example in her post in 101. Here's the link. http://www.weblo.com/member/A4Astro/First I gave everything up front 5 stars, left a comment and took the poll if any. Then I rated every celeb the member had. The majority were at or near a score of 5/10. Dropping just below at Led Zepp. Because there were so many at this mid mark I was hoping to see if there was a difference in scoring if polls were taken along with rating and leaving a comment. It had been my experience that when I rated another's asset, or just left a comment, the asset would always move upward within a day. Not sure what's going on here but I thought I'd post it for other, more savvy game players to analyze. ^0^ | |

| ive also noticed a change,,i "think" weblo rates now according to outside traffic coming in,all things equal,,ive watched some of my top domains and when the traffic slows the ratings drop,,,as long as hits are high the rating stays high, example izabel goulart.com ciara.com....ciara still gettin hit,,,izabel's hits have all but stopped..thus a drop in rating number....rating by members is nice and helps but i dont think it is a booster as it used to be | |

| well i think it has to do with averages . You may have picked sites that have a ton of ratings. Webloid rates a lot so I would hope people paid him back in ratings. Did you try a new members where the number of ratings are smaller hence your rating more valuable? Yes clicks counts for something hot sites need an update maybe once or twice a month. There are tricks to update a sight fast. Im sure we all now them but its still a pain | |

| It's my theory that polls and comments don't directly influence asset rank, but rather that they reset an 'interacted with' timer that works like the 'last updated' timer.
Just like assets have to be updated once per week to maintain maximum rank, I think they also have to be interacted with (via polls or comments) to maintain maximum rank as well.
Here's an experiment to try...
Answer the poll question on a group of low ranked assets Add a comment to a another group of low ranked assets Answer the poll and add a comment to yet another group of low ranked assets.
If at all possible no other traffic/activity should be on the assets. I know there's no control over this, but dusting off some old 3.0 ranked assets that haven't been touched in a while should work. Also - the asset groups should be drawn from different members in some kind of random fashion. Your groups could be as small as 10, but 25 would probably make for a better survey.
If my theory is correct, all 3 groups should improve similarly. Some may react oddly, but we discard the wil results and attribute the behviour to unknown variables.
Give it a go, I'd be interested to know the results as I'm sure others would.

| Well I know many of those celebs hadn't been rated more than once so there should have been an upturn just for the 5 star rating alone. Something's changed. Well not really, still it's the man hold'n the rest of us down. Per usual. I'll find the time to do the experiment you drew up Webloid and let you know what I found. | |

| CPE, if you click on "owners profile" it'll get you to the asset page. Just another bug lay'n eggs in the system I guess. | |

| I just took some time to rate and comment 20 seperate assets each, none had been rated or commented on till I did. They were all at 3/10. Finding 20 assets with polls is going to be tough, any ideas? I'll keep you posted on the outcome. I figure something should happen after the daily update from weblo's system no? Just checked the time from my last post here to this one...there's an hour 'n a half I'll never get back. | |

| Ok so I got some feedback already. But you're not going to like it. It seems that rating (at least 5 stars) does make a difference. Every site I successfully was able to leave a rating for boosted from 3/10 to 5/10.
All sites I left a rate and commented on also went from 3/10 to 5/10.
All sites I just left a comment on didn't move.
Now here's that part that has me worried. I did the test in 20 site batches. 20 for just a comment, 20 for just a 5 star rate, and 20 for a rate and a comment.
Out of the 40 sites that I attempted to leave a rating 9 of those 5 star rates did not register, even though the system told me I had successfully registered the rating. I checked often to try again but was told I had already rated the site. Yet the stars were clearly blank and these sites did not go up in score.
My worry is that if we're rating other sites and there is already a previous rate that did register; how are we going to know that our rate actually did anything for the site owner?
9 out of 40 rates...that's 25% wasted effort. How many of our assets are being kept from reaching the threshold 6/10 rating required for revenue payment by weblo...meager as those revenues might be? Is this a calculated glitch and fixable or is it an inherent flaw that we'll have to learn to live with?
What to do...^0^

| Sweet survey Meglo, did you note the individual asset ranks and have they updated since the ratings were applied? I'm interested to know where the asset ranks changed and by how much.
Through some corrdinated experimentation we could probably nail what raises and/or maintains an asset's rank down to a formula or some kind of ruleset.
I know we'd all love to know *exactly* what benefits out assets, how it affects them, and by how much. You know Weblo will never just lay it out for us...

| To answer Webloid, I did all this yesterday afternoon and then again in the early eve. I checked this morning and posted the results.
I don't believe any updated during that period. If you read my post just before all the links you'll find the answers to the rest of your questions.
My question now is how do we know that we are actually getting compensated for all of the ratings left on our sites? The system obviously is misfiring on this key revenue generating point.

| I don't have an answer unfortunatly. As an experiment everbody rate this one and leave a comment. It is an unpurchased city that had one view previously and has one registered property and 0 members. It has a rating of three, Webloid could you pass this on link the cities page to all your friends and ask them to rate it 5? Lets see how high we can get a city without content. http://www.weblo.com/property/city/Arlington/446056/ | |

| My ramblings were unclear, could you just copy that link and send out a ratings request with the link to the asset not here. With your 1000 plus friends it should move it pretty good. Just ask them to 5 star it as part of a experiment. | |

| That's cool but I was thinking that if we link people here and let them in on what we're doing they might be interested enough to stay, browse, and join. That's like double the benefit for just a little more effort, plus people on my list get some thing a little more relevant and interesting and not a 'hey, do this for me l, thx' kind of thing. | |

| Going back to the top I started this thread with concerns about what percent of our rating effort is actually registered, in giving and receiving. I'm sure we'll get no definitive answer anytime soon but some of you please humor me in assisting further. It's been over a week since I rated and commented on all of those celebrity assets and still nothing has happened. I thought they should move upward. Hell I'd expect them to. Wouldn't you? What's the criteria is what I want to find out? Webloid rated some of my bottom of the barrel assets last week and they moved upward. So why not at this site? It's bugging the hell outta me. I have chosen 2 pages that I'd hope someone could take the time to just rate. You don't have to bother with comment or polls. Just a 5 star rating has been established as the over riding factor in upward mobility of an asset's rating. If you've done one page post back here as to which one #1 or #2 and everyone else hold off rating till we get results, which should be evident within 24 hours. After the daily system wide update. Here's the pages. Just click on the celebrity, click on the 5th star, a box will open stating your rating has been registered, or you've already rated this site. (hopefully you haven't rated a lot of them already) Make a note in your post back here if you had. If you haven't rated many and have the time please continue to the #2 page and rate those as well. Once I know they've been rated then I'll monitor them so you don't have to waste your time further. After this, if there is still no upward mobility we'll have some one else go over them and continue to do so until we do see movement. Thanks for your help...^0^ Here are the links, They all have ratings of 5/10 and the majority no visits other than myself in recent days. #1 #2Oh and A4Astro doesn't know we're doing this I don't think. I sent him a message after I rated them all and asked him to let me know any results. No reply. Another walk away? | |
